Cake and Eat it 3 Visiting Bali, Indonesia
It has changed considerably over the years. Bali still offers wonderful food, beautiful scenery and an affordable getaway irrespective of your family size.
Legian and Kuta areas are well known as the more tourist and party areas of Bali. Seminyak has lovely Villas and more modern shopping opportunities (if that is what you are after).
Make sure you experience a Jimbaran Seafood Dinner, literally on the beach and amazing seafood.
While we are on food (a particular favourite topic of ours). We really enjoyed dinner in Legian at Rosemary Restaurant & Bar which is up out of the busy street vibe. They have the most amazing food. We tried the whole menu when last there as it was just beautiful. Nice romantic atmosphere and also some three bench “U” shape table options perfect for larger families.
We were recommended to try Bubba Gumps (Forrest Gump themed) restaurant which was fun with fast paced serving, good atmosphere and child friendly. The drink prices are high the food just alright in quality, so more of a “like home” break if the kids are struggling with local food but not a recommendation of ours.
Ubud, located 35 kilometres northeast of Denpasar Airport is a favourite of mine.
This is where my husband proposed many years ago. I will always remember our crazy moped adventure (me co-driver alerting to trucks, animals, beemo taxi’s and other crazy vehicles and wildlife darting to and fro on our trip out there).
We have seen beautiful traditional dancing and enjoyed spending time in Monkey Forrest. A beautiful breakfast on the deck of a restaurant overlooking rice paddies.
The most amazing fresh juices and cocktails. This is Bali.
With cheap flights regularly available from all capital cities of Australia. It pays to subscribe to the airlines email lists so you receive advice on their sales.
Something to keep in mind is there have been delays in some flights following volcanic ash and for this reason always make sure your travel insurance is for just longer than you need or you increase the amount of days if you are delayed.
Be careful of street money changers, even though you watch them count it once, twice or even three times you can be guaranteed when you walk away you wont have the money you were supposed to have.
We have had lots of fun with them and been banned from many as we don’t leave till they get it right. Other times, you just want to go to an authorised money changer. At least you know you are getting the amount you are supposed to be getting without the fuss.
Whatever you do while visiting Bali, Indonesia you will return relaxed and rejuvenated.
