Christmas is coming and you want to take Elf on the shelf on the road!  All you other fun lovin’ families (crazy, lovers of torture and all that) that love seeing your kids faces light up, with the mischief these little guys get up to each night of December counting down to Christmas.  This post hopefully relieves some of your frustration of having to come up with ideas while on the road travelling this Christmas.

At the very least you will have a chuckle at what Miss Stephanie Elf got up to last year while we were fulltime on the road travelling.

Planning is important

I did a lot of planning prior to going, including printing off in colour all photos that would be used, jokes, snow flake instructions with special message and outfits from various sites which I will do my best to credit.

I then glued them onto an A4 piece of white cardboard and cut them out.  This helped in making sure they lasted the distance while travelling. The small pieces all got put in a ziplock bag. The A4 colour pages all went in a manilla folder which I stapled the sides up and we hid it in the wardrobe.

I had an A4 page that had the 24 days and the different setups required for each day.  If a movie was required before a certain one (ie. Gullivers travels) or specific joke card, I mentioned it there.

All props were bought in advance and hidden in folder or container in same cupboard.

Marshmallows, shortbread cookies, coloured fruit tic tacs, skewers ect. Green and red m&ms were hidden in vehicle waeco.  I had the emergency items like sticky tape, ribbon, wire ties, blue tac, scissors and the like in a shoe box ready for easy access (normally in the dark).

Here is the list and where possible the sites for access to the printables.

All jokes will be found here from moms and munchkins
